Field guide

Everything you need
before your first spawn.

Age of Eons drops you into a living world as a single, real simulated creature. Grow from a vulnerable hatchling to an apex adult, hunt and breed, and pass your genome on before the era's extinction loop wipes the slate. Here's how the world works.

The timeline

Ten geological eras.

Every world runs one era. They range from the Cambrian sea half a billion years ago to the Pleistocene steppe. Jump into any roster.

Getting started

From hatchling to elder.

You are a real sim individual: your stats come from the species roster, and your body scale grows with each life stage. Survival is the whole game.

Growth stages5 · lifecycle
StageLife stageWhat to do
01HatchlingYou spawn small and vulnerable. Learn the controls, find food and water, and stay near cover — almost everything out here can eat you.
02JuvenileYou grow with every successful meal. Start foraging or hunting in earnest, learn the map, and read the weather and the food chain.
03Sub-adultNear full size. Contest territory, form or join a group, and come into your species' full speed and combat profile.
04AdultFull stats and body scale. Hold territory, lead a pack or herd, and breed — mutations and size pass to your offspring.
05ElderA proven lineage. Your bloodline climbs the cross-server leaderboard — pass your genome on before the extinction loop takes the world.
Controls

Play the creature.

Third-person, direct control. The client only asks — the server validates every move and every bite, so the anti-cheat snap-back applies to you too.

> server is the authority. Growth stages change your body scale, the species speed cap is enforced server-side, and damage and death travel on the same signed combat stream as the AI herd — you're one animal inside the same simulation as everything else.
Core systems

How the world keeps score.

Six systems run underneath every world — the same ones whether or not you're logged in.

Skill-based combat

Bite force and bleed come straight from your species' roster. Manage stamina, pick your angle, and commit — death is permanent. Bite & bleed from real stats, positioning and disengaging matter, environmental & group advantages count, and every hit is a signed server event.

Genetics & breeding

Every creature carries a genome. Breed for size and stats, chase rare mutations, and grow a bloodline that outlives you. Hereditary stat, size & colour inheritance, rare mutations and albino lines, bloodline tracking to the leaderboard, and inbreeding & aging penalties.

Packs & herds

Group up within your species' natural limits, coordinate hunts, care for young, and defend the ground you claim. Group size drawn from the roster, coordinated hunts & herd defence, parental care of offspring, and territory establishment.

Living ecosystem

A season clock, per-biome weather, and disasters reshape the world; populations boom and crash against carrying capacity. Seasons, weather & day/night; volcanoes, quakes, wildfires, floods, meteors; predator–prey dynamics; biomes from badlands to volcanic.

TrailCoins economy

Earn currency by surviving, hunting well, and leading — spend it on cosmetics inside a fair, no-pay-to-win model. Hunt & survival rewards, pack-leadership bonuses, cosmetic customization only, fair-play by design.

The extinction loop

Every world ends. A mass-extinction event collapses the era and reseeds the next — survivors, lineages and records carry forward. Eras end on their own clock, records & bloodlines persist, a new roster seeds the next world, and death is the mechanic, not the failure.

World modes

Pick your pressure.

Every dedicated world runs one mode. Check the server browser to see what's live.

Default

Realism

The full simulation — hunger, stamina, weather, herd dynamics and permanent death. The world as the game intends it.

Relaxed

Sandbox

Softer rules for exploring rosters, learning species, and building out a bloodline without the harshest survival pressure.

Unforgiving

Hardcore

One life, a harsher world, higher stakes. For players who want the extinction loop to mean everything.
